Butterflies
A friend of mine used watercolors to paint this butterfly. I love it and all the metaphors and symbolism associated with butterflies.
So many people find solace in loss and grief via butterflies. When a monarch appears to someone I know, it is interpreted as a ‘sign’ from their son who died. It is so comforting for this family to see a monarch butterfly’s flutter that they have created a beautiful butterfly garden. When I visit, I feel like I’m in a sacred sanctuary, a place of peace, love, and joy.
Yet loss and grief are so messy and painful. Here is a quote by Rupi Kaur that reminds me that grief is a process. And there is beauty right next the pain of grief.
“You do not just wake up and become the butterfly. Growth is a process.”
